Bahamas Shark Beach Towel

This beach towel features one of my most memorable underwater shots—a gray reef shark perfectly framed against a glowing sun ball, captured in the pristine waters of San Salvador Island, Bahamas. This island, with its sheer walls and remote Atlantic location, is a haven for diverse marine life, and I was fortunate to be there shooting promotional images for Riding Rock Resort & Marina.

I took this shot at Twin Peaks, a dive site where two underwater pinnacles rise from the deep. After days of diving with sharks, turtles, and rays, I had only a few minutes left on this dive when two reef sharks appeared, swimming a slow, graceful pattern. I descended to 140 feet, waiting quietly in their path, hoping they’d make one more lap. As the shark glided into view, I managed to squeeze off two shots before my strobe needed to recharge—everything aligned perfectly in those few fleeting seconds. It was one of those rare moments where I knew instantly that I had captured something special.
